Finally, after almost two years, our article about the DROP App has been published in Heliyon! The DROP App is one of my masterpieces in my scientific career. It is a research-based, tailor-made hydro-climate information service co-produced with and for farmers in Ghana. This app offers many features that are crucial for farm decision-making. It provides daily scientific weather forecasts up to 14 days in advance. One of its unique features is the inclusion of local forecasts (LF) based on local ecological indicators. The LF feature allows farmers to submit their own local forecasts and share them with their peers. Additionally, the DROP App provides soil moisture forecasts with a lead time of seven days. Both the rainfall and soil moisture forecasts help smallholder farmers in Ghana make informed agricultural decisions, such as when to sow, plow, and apply fertilizers.
